if it constantly disconnecting you, you may have issue on line or faulty equipment

When setting up PPP servers, I find it much easier NOT to use DHCP because less hassle to set-up and it's easier to keep track of how many IPs you have to allocate.

Some ISPs seem to run on sticky IPs, where it will just continue to re-issue the same IP for long periods. Although if that is just because the IP becomes free and then is immediately re-issued (thus goes to the same person) I'm not sure.

I notice Virgin Media seem to have really long IP allocation times as I can go weeks before my friends IP changes.
