New Router
New broadband (Zen Unlimited Fibre) means I might invest in a new router

Currently just got the old Tenda W268R from Origin
One feature on this I like is I can see what's connected and what IP addresses it's dished out, also set some machines to have a fixed IP (set on the router)

In the house we have 3 laptops, 4 iphones, 1 ipad, 2 android tablets, 3 PC's and a wifi printer
Also recently got hold of a Chromecast which sends HD movies over the wifi
Not to mention if the kids friends come round they all connect up their gadgets

I've seen the Asus RT-N66U and Asus RT-AC66U recommended (what's the difference? what would make one of these better than the other?)

If anyone has any recommendations then please post!

RE: New Router
This *might* help you decide:-

I think the main difference is wireless speed capability - but that will always be limited to the speed at which the clients can communicate so you may be paying for something you can't use.

RE: New Router
I have the N66U and I'm fine with it.. The AC would be nice but I hardly have any devices that use wireless AC so rather pointless for me.

Merlin firmware keeps everything in ship shape firmware wise Smile

RE: New Router
I had the N66U till I left it plugged in after DR went down and about 10 days after it got spiked no thunder storms or owt theory is they just lopped the power cables to the DR cabinet, however until then it was a really good router for what I wanted and solved all my previous wireless issues out, and pissed my neighbour off whose BT router had caused half my issues, talk about role reversal, I never did admit it and only couple of weeks ago he commented on how much better his wireless signal is Cool
