Digital Region Network Schematic questions
I was researching for a thread on Sheffield Forum and discovered something, I am completely wrong about where the fibre loops go. lol

I thought I knew where the Intake DR loop went based on seeing where they laid conduit, but it seems the conduits between different exchange loops actually converge, which might explain why it took them a year to get my cabinet online when it appeared all the conduit had been laid.

It seems that maybe they laid the fibre connecting the exchanges themselves together at the same time, in the same ducting, as the street cabinet fibre. I always (no idea why) assumed they had done this independent of the street cabinet ducting.

It also proves:

is out of date as its missing several exchanges including Woodseats.

Ironically it seems

is more up to date than the networks own schematic. Although some of the above may also include the infrastructure of Digital City itself as it may have several different points of presence on the network.

It would seem that according to the Digital City schematic, Beuchief and Ranmoor became part of the main DR network rather than renting the BT fibre. That kinda confirms one thing we suspected before, that the DR schematic was temporary and that perhaps a lot more, if not all of the network is now DR fibre rather than having bits leased off other providers.

I believe that the SYDR network schematic you have posted is the most up to date network diagram. The reason Woodseats isnt shown is because DRL do not have any presence within the exchange as it part of network rollout 'Phase Two'.

RE: Digital Region Network Schematic questions
Having previously been connected to the Woodseats Exchange I can also vouch for there being no DRL available from that exchange, believe me I checked! There are some cabinets on the very outskirts of the Woodseats catchment area but they go back to the Intake exchange.

The diagram produced by Digital City Region is also inaccurate in that it shows Sheffield (as a Hub) and Attercliffe (as a spoke) separately when Attercliffe is the Sheffield hub for DRL as far as I am aware.

ISP: Plusnet | Router: Mikrotik 2011UAS-2HnD-IN | Sync: 50Mbit/15Mbit | PCP: 600m | Exchange: Mosborough
Server: HP Microserver, Aspire V5-171
PC: MacBook Pro, ThinkPad X220
OD: Plex, Chromecast, Roku 2 XS, NowTV, YouView, PS4
Mobile: iPad, LG G3, Nexus 5

RE: Digital Region Network Schematic questions
That makes a lot more sense as watching them build the Intake loop I was SURE it went past those Woodseats cabinets on the outskirts, I literally was watching them come down from those cabinets and across Hemsworth Road, to join the bit the had already done on Blackstock Road.

Its interesting though as up until now the implication has been that they did the matching cabinets to each exchange. This would explain the comment they made to me on the phone about having to change the plan at the last minute. It would make sense after Intake turned out harder to get fibred up than expected (they hit some really hard rock that required specialist equipment they hadn't budgeted for), to bundle in as many cabinets as possible, especially if they are on exchanges they knew weren't getting done at all on phase 1.
