Outage Announcement
**service update**
We've received word that Northern Power have caused damage to fibre in Wombwell when they were trying to repair a power outage. This has affected as many as 15 cabinets. We'll provide further updates as soon as we can! |

RE: Outage Announcement
I wonder what's going to happen about this now that Digital Region is going under. They won't do any regrades or anything so I don't see them stumping up to repair/replace a fibre!

RE: Outage Announcement
What does that have to do with anything? They damaged the fiber while digging up the road, nothing to do with the power of the cabinets.
Also, where else would they get the power from? |

RE: Outage Announcement
Aye you're right, totally misread that. A domestic supply (as I believe phone boxes use) would have been better where available.

RE: Outage Announcement
But that would have cost a fortune as you can tap into the street lighting at any street light. A domestic supply would have to come from a proper junction point (maybe all the way back from the nearest sub-station) which would could mean digging up a LOT of pavement and a LOT of unnecessary wiring and disruption.
Although I am still waiting for everything to go wrong when they replace the local street lights. |

I was down for a whole day when they started to change our street lights. |
