RE: Digital Region Has Been Sold To Geo Networks
looking at that it will be for businesses only

ideally that could be the ideal opportunity for FTTP as shouldn't be too hard to splice outside premises

Quote:as well as carrying out the decommissioning of the existing Digital Region street furniture
So that's it then. No interest in creating a consumer offer.

Can't see any residential options coming out of the Geo networks acquisition, but then again you never know!

Lee - (back to ADSL2+ because of the DR closure)

RE: Digital Region Has Been Sold To Geo Networks
Surely they won't have bought ALL the fibre then?

There is only really the City Centre and Attercliffe that is any use for data center links, the rest is spread across residential areas which would only be any good for FTTP.

Now if they were planning to sell that connectivity on to ISPs for FTTP connections, that would make sense.

Here's my article on the deal:

http://www.rothbiz.co.uk/2014/07/news-42...-sold.html

I think you're right about the chances being slim but Zayo provides fibre-based bandwidth to nine of the ten largest global telecommunication carriers and TalkTalk recently extended a deal with Zayo to use its network services in the UK.

RE: Digital Region Has Been Sold To Geo Networks
*cough*

Fibre in residential areas still has value, 5G and beyond will use higher frequencies which require more masts because propagation is poor and contention will be worse also requiring more masts.

Leased Lines - You know you want one! Smile
