RE: Sheffield’s Don Valley Attercliffe, Brightside exchange possible hope
Gah, doesn't quite reach Norfolk Park. Oh well, I'm not sure I'd be happy to commit to £60/month for 3 years anyway. Even with line rental considered that's a good £40/month more than I'd be charged for 5Mbps ADSL.

And I would *seriously* hope Sheffield exchange has BTFTTC in 3 years time. Mind you, I did say the same thing 3 years ago when I moved in...

RE: Sheffield’s Don Valley Attercliffe, Brightside exchange possible hope
lucky for me i dont really have a problem with broadband. as i have OR VDSL at 69meg VM upto 152meg ADSL averaging 13meg and live about 100M from my local three mast so 4g is very strong, so i do live in a lucky place, Having said that i think if i was in say the Attercliffe area and on 1-2meg only i would consider that company as for 100meg although not say as cheap as virgin media its still not overly expensive compared to a leased line lol but the install/contract length, I have got to say is a big put off for a lot of people but it dose come down to how much you want the speed i think, look at the few people who have been paying a few grand out for FTTP-OD just to get 330meg lol,

what people could do is maybe ask the neighbours at each side of them if theyd be willing to put towards and all share the costs 100meg between three households is more than enough and way better than all been on 1-5 meg max that way the install/monthly fee not as much just a though (yes i know company's frown on this but obviously you wouldn't be be letting them know about it lol)

It's certainly an option for folk who are going back to sub 2mb but I have reservations about a 3 year contract and the potential wireless interference you could have.

This is a fair point. With all the new developments going on around Sheffield what's to stop something getting in the way. It'd be great to get One2Call to come on here and entice us all with a DRL refugee offer though...!

Email them @WillPS

You never know, they may make an offer for all the refugees out there!

Their response:
Quote:Hi William,

Thanks for getting in touch.

Unfortunately we’ve had delays from BT Openreach in getting our line installed so the service isn’t live yet as originally intended. It sounds like the DR switch off has had a knock on effect on availability of BT Openreach engineers as well.

As soon as the service is live I’ll let you know, and we’d be happy to talk about getting people connected.

Sorry we can’t offer any immediate solutions, and good luck to the forum members in getting reconnected.

Thanks

Alex

If they could squeeze a package in around £30/month, and stretch to covering Norfolk Park, they'd definitely have an interested potential customer here...

If they did a 25Mb package for that price, people would probably pay it...Maybe bork at the contract and install fee though.

Thanks @WillPS for making the effort to email them!

Hi Alex - If you're struggling - we can get you a 100Mb circuit into Banners from our equipment on the roof, by close of play tomorrow...

If there is anyone out there struggling; our services are up and live and we're helping out quite a few companies at the moment that have been left in difficulty - get in touch and I'll be happy to see what we can do Smile
