RE: New line cards ?????
According to Origin they are only doing cabinets with several customers on them. Its definitely worth having a word with them about it.
I would hope they will replace them all ultimately, but that is a LOT of line cards and I cannot see them getting a return on that investment. How close are you to the cabinet? |

RE: New line cards ?????
Well, apparently the line cards are nowhere near that expensive, even the 30a ones (which nobody is using because they are much more expensive than the 17a ones in use) are only £120 for 16 users, although obviously that adds up quickly. Still, it may depend on if they had to replace the whole DSLAM or just the line cards, I suspect they didn't though or my connection would have gone down for longer during the upgrade.
As you can see, there was VERY little downtime (the gap in the graph between 6am and 8am): I wonder if anyone desperate for faster speeds could actually pay the cost of the line card to get upgraded? |

RE: New line cards ?????
That is the interesting thing, they claim I have 2ms delay on my line but the modem reports no different to before, no interleaving or INP. Also speedtest.net shows the same ping as before, its only the thinkbroadband ping chart that seems to show a small increase.
Its all moot IMO as since I upgraded the HG612 to the latest firmware today, web pages are loading faster than ever. |

RE: New line cards ?????
I tested the Cellpipe again yesterday to see how it performed on my connection now, very poorly.
But what I had forgotten, just how very very LONG it takes the Cellpipe to boot up and sync, the HG612 is really fast in comparison. |

RE: New line cards ?????
I've been thinking about upgrading mine, but I'm debating at the moment for two reasons.
1) My connection has been up for 59 days and was wanting to see how long it stayed up for (vast improvement on the 7 days max I used to get) 2) Bloody awkward to get to the modem due to where it's situated
