Sony Xperia SP 4G?
Hi hope some one can help i have a sony xepria SP which is meant to be 4G capable on LTE 800 / 850 / 900 / 1800 / 2100 / 2600 - C5303 LTE 850 / 1700 / 1900 / 2100 - C5306

but when i put a 4G EE sim card in it wont connect to 4G it still only connect to 3G, Also if i go into settings and go onto mobile networks there's still only WCDMA only and WCDMA(prefered)/GSM ive also tried to manual select network and a load of options come up but there all 3G/2G options with no 4G (example here)

The phone is a three branded phone but is unlocked as it works on any network in 3G mode, Do you think its because its a three branded phone that the 4G options are disabled or something until three enable 4G on there own network

this is not a big problem as such as i only want to test the 4G sim in the phone to see the speed diff between three 3G and EE 4G as when i had my old 4g phone it was very disappointing compared to threes 3g, But its frustrating that its meant to be a 4G phone but wont connect to it

Thanks for any help Ash

Grandma and eggs of course but are you *sure* there is a 4G signal where you are?

Hi yes when EE was my main provider i had a strong 4G signal but the But it was a fairly low end 4G phone and did not support as fast 4G as this phones meant to support and with EE now doing their double speeds would be nice to see if it has made any improvements, and im also sure its a 4G sim

I get 20-22D/3U on threes 3G (DC-HSDPA) but on EE 4G i never relay got much past 14 so like i said its more just for curiosity but i find it od that the phone wont find a 4G networks yet is advertised at 4G (even the three site says 4G ready)

RE: Sony Xperia SP 4G?
I'm fairly sure EE 4G sim cards need to be activated for the 4G signal aspect through EE's system called Excalibur.

as i said on skype though ive used it in multiple devices and its just worked on 4g its been in a Huawei Ascend P1 LTE a galaxy s3 LTE and a 4G mobile BB router but that was all before the double speed upgrade so i find it odd that it wont connect to 4G on this phone

been over at digital spy and some one having similar issue

RE: Sony Xperia SP 4G?
Are you sure its the 4G model?

When I bought my Galaxy Note 2 you could only get the 4G model directly from EE, all other networks were selling the 3G model. I would be surprised if Three are providing 4G enabled phones until their 4G network is actually live as they can charge a premium for them then.

Yes defo sure its 4G capable See here all i can think of is three have disabled it in the firmware im considering flashing it with stock firmware but id rather not void the warranty if possible. and as far as im aware there are no 3G only versions of this phone.

RE: Sony Xperia SP 4G?
Where is that page located?

Also, probably best to block out the IMEI in that screenshot.

According to gsmarena there are MANY versions of that phone, three 3G only models and two 4G models.

2G Network:
GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 - all versions
3G Network:
HSDPA 850 / 900 / 2100 - C5303
HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1700 / 1900 / 2100 - C5302
HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100 - C5306
4G Network:
LTE 800 / 850 / 900 / 1800 / 2100 / 2600 - C5303
LTE 850 / 1700 / 1900 / 2100 - C5306

You did mention you had C5306 though which is worrying as it looks to me like the C5303 is meant for the UK as we will be using 800Mhz and EE I think currently use 1800Mhz.

That would explain why its not working though.

Thanks for that forgot all about the IMEI number been shown, ive got to say i like the drop box integration into windows now you can edit the files as if they were on the pc and it even updates the shares pic.

you type *#*#7378423#*#* then goto configuration
