Future of DRLforum
@SpencerUK will you be shutting this site down when DRL finally closes or are you going to let it still run as is or possibly rebrand it depending on the outcome.

RE: Future of DRLforum
To be honest, I've not thought about it.
When the picture becomes more clear on where everything stands, every active member will have a say on the forums future. As I'm sure @Mirdragon and @Chalky will agree, members makes the community and this is very much a community forum. I'm open to any suggestions with the forum, whether that is a ISP specific rebrand to shutting it down. Regards

RE: Future of DRLforum
If it comes to it, I think we could re-brand to show there is a community to discuss broadband within South Yorkshire and not just have it for FTTC but also ADSL (if users have to switch back)
I don't think we will get the likes of BT, Sky or TalkTalk on the forum though

RE: Future of DRLforum
Well, we already have an unofficial presence from PlusNet and official from Origin, so its kinda already the South Yorkshire broadband forum.
Then again Origin Pete has been hugely criticised for spamming Sheffield forum whenever anyone had broadband problems. I get why he did it, potentially it IS useful for people to know there is an alternative, but it doesn't look good. |

RE: Future of DRLforum
I for one would hope it can keep going. Its always good to be able to get good advice from knowledgeable members.
A renaming would be good, perhaps members could input a new name and then admin could decide which is the best Something on the lines of South Yorkshire Broadband Forum

RE: Future of DRLforum
A while back I thought about just making it an Origin forum, but it would have been unfair on the other active ISP's at the time.
Once things settle down a bit, we'll all look at the issue as a community Regards

RE: Future of DRLforum
Of course Origin already have the beta forum now, I would not be surprised if they expand that to everyone at some point.
I think its good to keep this forum though, we all know each other now and its good to have an independent place to vent. |

RE: Future of DRLforum
Independent is definitely a big plus. Can you imagine if we all used a Chess forum with the recent bad news. We would all be banned for asking too many questions
