Can't take much more
So having lost my connection on 14th August I have been without internet ever since. I was originally planning to stay with Origin but as no progress was being made I asked for a MAC and signed up with Plusnet.

After originally ordering fibre and being told they knew the situation with Digital Region and thought they could sort it out, I then received the standard invalid MAC message and was advised I needed a new line. They then said they could put through an ADSL order and move it over to Fibre once connected.

Advised that ADSL connection would go live 08/09 at the very latest, which was quickly revised to 15/09. As you can imagine, this date has now been and gone with no progress. Apparently they are having an issue with their supplier and will review the situation on the 18th. I don't think I can take much more - is there any chance they will actually get me online by the 18th or is there anyone that could do any better? I've been without proper internet for over a month and I work from home!

Any advice from the knowledgeable members here?

I've bought a 4G dongle. It's all doing my head in to such an extent that I thought I needed to detach myself from the whole sorry mess.

RE: Can't take much more
The supplier is BT Wholesale, so whoever you go with is likely to have similar problems since all the ISPs are at the mercy of them. If you go with somebody else the clock will start from scratch again, so another 2 weeks minimum. There was mention somewhere that BT were having capacity issues with all the new line requests. Maybe that is something to do with it.

That was my concern to be honest. I'm just getting so frustrated with it all, and I foolishly actually thought I was going to get back online yesterday! Suppose I will just have to carry on waiting it out. I think I mainly just needed to vent some anger!

I do have a 3G thing which is getting me through but the data allowance means Netflix is out of the window for the moment!

RE: Can't take much more
When I'm finally connected on the 25th I will have been without a connection for 6 weeks. It took 4 weeks for the tag to be removed and the line to be clear before I could order fibre. I didn't want to go down the ADSL route, for me I'd get a pitiful 2Mb connection.

Had to buy a flaky O2 dongle which at least gives me some connection to the outside world, not brilliant but better than nothing.

RE: Can't take much more
So got a message from Plusnet yesterday afternoon - ADSL order has been completed and is now activated. Excellent...turn on the router...nothing. I don't even have a flashing broadband light as I had before, just nothing.

Got an engineer coming to look at it on the 18th. What an utter debacle this has become!

Possibly the work at the cabinet to remove connection to DRL cabinet not done. Mention this as possibility to engineer.

RE: Can't take much more
Outcome is, I'm now back online with (very slow) ADSL! Problem was as suggested regarding the cabinet. Now I just have to wait for the fibre order to go through - being on this slow connection reminds me why I went with Origin in the first place
