RE: Huawei HG612 on Digital Region - alexatkin - 10-05-2012 07:52 PM Okay, I have updated the first post on the thread into a "HOWTO" for how I got it working! RE: Using the Huawei HG612 on Digital Region instead of the Cellpipe - Djandy_2001 - 12-05-2012 12:37 AM Received my HG612 today Got mine working on ASK4 using the same VLAN ID Only settings need changing for the HG612 are BASIC ---> WAN Bridge Type = PPPoE VLAN ID = 10 RE: Using the Huawei HG612 on Digital Region instead of the Cellpipe - LeJimster - 12-05-2012 01:11 AM I've been trying to find a low priced alternative router/modem to the Huawei, but there seems to be very little choice for the UK retail market right now. Even when i try to search chinese sites for importing their branded models, they refuse to sell in units of less than 500. Which is frankly irritating. I'm not sure I ever had this kind of trouble finding ADSL tech back over a decade ago when it was first hitting the market. I've made this post a sticky for the time being Please Note Use the guide at your own risk, the community forum team or AlexAtkin does not take any responsibility if it goes wrong xD RE: Using the Huawei HG612 on Digital Region instead of the Cellpipe - pob - 14-05-2012 05:37 PM Got my HG612 today. Here are my detailed stats. I'm about 450 - 500m away from the cabinet.

RE: Using the Huawei HG612 on Digital Region instead of the Cellpipe - alexatkin - 14-05-2012 05:46 PM URGENT: EVERYONE, SWITCH BACK TO THE CELLPIPE ASAP! Anyone using a different modem to the Cellpipe WILL get disconnected as a breach of contract. RE: Using the Huawei HG612 on Digital Region instead of the Cellpipe - pob - 14-05-2012 06:13 PM Well that was fun while it lasted. I was only connected for about 15 mins, but learnt more about the quality of my line in that time than at any point in my previous 17 months on the network! I never planned to use it constantly anyway, but handy to look at the stats when I suspect there is an issue with my line quality. Any interest in an unlocked HG612? :-) RE: Using the Huawei HG612 on Digital Region instead of the Cellpipe - KarlAustin - 14-05-2012 06:20 PM (14-05-2012 05:46 PM)alexatkin Wrote: URGENT: Another reason why DR is such a joke at the moment then, if customers can sync at >=100Mbit/s but the modem they send out can't handle it, why bother allowing a max rate sync? RE: Using the Huawei HG612 on Digital Region instead of the Cellpipe - SpencerUk - 14-05-2012 06:29 PM @alexatkin @pob I'm not buying it. I'm calling Digital Region's bluff. If they want to disconnect me then by all means. Digital Region is a Wholesale company at the end of the day..They can't cut nobody off. They are not an ISP and you don't have a contract with them. Whether you get disconnected is essentially up to the ISP as that's the contract which you have with the ISP and yourself not with Digital Region. I'd also like ISP's if reading this topic to prove no revisions have been made to the terms and conditions within the last week and also point out where in breach of contract you are. I would somehow also doubt that the ISP's on the network want negative publicity so it wouldn't be in there own interests. @KarlAustin If Digital Region want to play some more games, I'm more than up for it. They have managed to keep quiet this past month on how much of an farce the network management has been...Wouldn't be good if it went back in the press against for its negative approach. |
